Hiraeth (noun, m, Welsh)

A homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the lost places of your past

I yearn.

For cups of warm tea and a cocooned family.

I yearn

For colored pens and earrings

to speak to me.

I hope for music

to move me,

I look forward to

day’s end and the promise of hot soup

and useless conversations.

And the drama and drizzle of

a long, rainy

I yearn,

That which was, and never will be,

the same.
